Ottawa will ‘invest aggressively’ in clean technology, the Finance Minister said Monday as she outlined the main themes of the economic plan she will deliver next week

The federal government will “invest aggressively” in clean technology, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said Monday during a prebudget event in which she outlined the main themes of the economic plan she will deliver next week.

“Canada right now is really at a crucial crossroads. This is a moment when the great economies of the world have decided to embrace the clean economy,” Ms. Freeland told reporters after delivering a budget-themed speech to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Oshawa, Ont..“We also can invest aggressively in the clean economy of the 21st century in a smart, focused Canadian way - or we can be left behind,” she said. “Not making those investments is also a choice.

In addition to those two areas of spending, Ms. Freeland said next week’s federal budget will include a “narrowly focused” boost to social safety net supports for low-income Canadians in response to higher costs of living. Ms. Freeland did not provide specifics as to the form this support will take. She also repeated past assurances that the new spending can occur as part of a fiscally responsible budget.

Meanwhile liberal_party excluded Albertans w/ disabilities living in poverty from the one time rent top up payment of 500.00. I have zero trust in what they say about support for low-income Canadians. CQualtro .JustinTrudeau randyb4yeg AbLeg Yeg Yyc

The fastest and least expensive way to support low income Canadians is to reduce their tax load. Issuing refunds etc is very expensive.

Liberals love to copy all the American problems and bring them to Canada.

Dirty govt focusing on clean economy. Ironic.

Look... there is no such thing as green energy. We don't make solar panels here, it's going to be years, and I mean YEARS, before we're in the rare earth minerals business. And I've got news for you on that front, mining isn't very freaking green either. Wake up

' Something significant is about to take place in Canada. Hold on, Canada. Your ENTIRE GOVERNMENT is about to fall, and yes, Trudeau is falling, and soon you will see it '

Worst government ever

The '“narrowly focused” boost to social safety net supports' will probably amount to nothing more than doubling the GST cheque one time.

And the gutting of the middle class continues. Benefits for the wealthy, benefits for the poor...and the middle class can pay for it all.
