The U.S. Department of Energy launched a five-year program last year to spend $3.5 billion to build four regional Direct Air Capture, or DAC, hubs to kickstart commercialization of technology to capture carbon dioxide from the air and store it permanently.
Scientists view direct air carbon capture as vital to limiting global warming, but the technology is nascent. Terms of the $500 million grant require a hub to scale up to sequestering one million tonnes a years of carbon dioxide. Applications for an initial set of grants closed this week.Unprecedented federal investment, private sector activity and endorsement by scientists of the need for carbon removal to meet global climate goals has created a "once in a lifetime opportunity" to deploy the technology, Battelle's energy and resilience manager, Shawn Bennett, told Reuters.
To be filtering so much air wouldn’t that cause condensation or would it dry the air? Also it takes huge amounts of energy so wed be using more fuel
Ya know.... plants 🌱 kinda need that! 🤔
You misspelled moneylaundering!
Stop these people
Bets that it goes to someone with political connections?
LOL, what a HUGE grift.
What do we do when this has zero effect on the climate?
To ensure the Great Green Grift isn't a profit engine for friends of politicians, any company receiving grants or subsidies from taxpayer dollars should not have salaries that exceed the federal wage base in their zone.
Maybe cheaper to just have everyone hold their breath for a day. ...🤦
Greenhouse gases increase every year but for the last 7 years the global average temperature remains at about 0.89C. No correlation.
The biggest scam in the history of the country & the poor and middle class will be the ones to suffer. The elites will be just fine. Wake up sheep
Useless, waste of money
Those probably need to be on top of skyscrapers
Great so we pay and many get Rich from “carbon capture” what do we do with it when we have captured it.
What a complete waste of money. Just plant more trees, then boom, carbon is being removed, and it doesn't cost 500mil dollars
Money laundering at its finest.
