Those eligible for the scheme will be automatically verified by the DWP

A new scheme being run by the Department for Work and Pensions will help Sky customers access cheaper broadband rates.

The DWP will automatically verify which customers are eligible for the scheme. This means that eligible claimants will not need to prove they claim benefits while on a tariff designed for low-income households, as they previously had to do.

Before the new system was introduced, people on a low-income broadband tariff had to verify their entitlement to providers with Jobcentre letters or screenshots of their Universal Credit account.
