Consider the OLED rulebook rewritten

There have been reports that LG was working on integrating MLA into its TVs for a few months now, but it’s great to finally have this confirmed. Especially when there were rumours before Christmas that the technology had been put back a year.

If you’ve got the budget for them, meanwhile, it seems that LG’s new 8K OLED TVs for 2023, the Z3 series, will benefit from EX panels and heat sink technologies for the first time, making them brighter than previous Z series models. Though certainly not as bright as the MLA-sporting G3 models. All of LG’s new ‘hero’ OLED ranges will benefit from the latest generation - Gen 6 - of LG’s A9 AI Processor. The improvements delivered by this new processor include a suite of so-called ‘Alpha Reality’ features that kick off with AI Super Upscaling, a process designed to better retain filmic grain while taking out actual noise when upscaling sub-4K sources to the screens’ native 4K or 8K resolutions.
