POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Jonathan’s appointment was made known on Friday in a statement by the AATF’s Communication Officer, Alex Abutu.
“Dr. Jonathan will advocate for the advancement of Africa’s agricultural goals and economic growth through the application of innovative technologies and enhanced investment in agriculture. “AATF is honoured to have the former president as our Ambassador, whose role will accelerate ongoing efforts to improve our agricultural terrain,” the statement quotes Dr Canisius Kanangire, the AATF Executive Director, as saying.
Jonathan served as the President of Nigeria from 2010 to 2015. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Nigeria from 2007 to 2010 under the administration of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua; and in oil-rich Bayelsa State as Governor of Bayelsa State from 2005 to 2007.
