META Platforms, Inc. has announced that Facebook will no longer allow users/retailers to host live shopping events beginning October 1, 2022.The American technology conglomerate said in a blog post that users will still be able to use Facebook Live to broadcast live events 'but you won't be able to create product playlists or tag products in your Facebook Live videos.

Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, said as consumers' viewing behaviors are moving to short-form video, it is shifting its focus to Reels.Reels is the short-form video product that is available on Facebook and Instagram.Live shopping on Instagram, however, will not be affected by this move.Facebook launched live shopping in August 2020 with the goal of making online shopping easier and empowering retailers of all types to grow their businesses.
