When Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards, the internet was flooded with reactions, ranging from memes to more serious reminders about the intensity of the moment.

said the incident showed "a very bad practice to walk up on stage and physically assault a comedian".Loadingechoed a similar sentiment online, writing: "Lol so public assault is the answer to an insensitive joke in 2022??! Good to know. I'll be doing my next Netflix special over Zoom."said "assault is never the answer" but brought up the fact that this is not the first time Chris Rock has made a joke at Jada's expense at the Oscars.

"Tonight he went after her alopecia. Punching down at someone's auto-immune disease is wrong. Doing so on purpose is cruel. They both need a breather," she tweeted.told Variety: "I thought, he's from West Philly, just like I'm from West Philly. We're very passionate people."During his acceptance speech for winning Best Actor for King Richard, Smith said: "I want to apologise to the Academy. I want to apologise to all my fellow nominees.

"This is a beautiful moment and I'm not crying for winning an award. It's not about winning an award for me. It's about being able to shine a light on all of the people," he said.said: "Will and Chris, we're going to solve this like family at the gold party, but right now we're moving on with love."However intense things got during the ceremony, Will Smith still attended after parties to celebrate winning his first Academy Award.

ABC YOU GUYS ARE DELUDED! Whoever the bloke is i'd be more worried about who does your wardrobe on air then someone getting slapped for talking shit!

People sometimes lose their cool. A sensitive issue that wasn't handled well. I prefer to focus on the moment when Al Pacino, Francis Ford Coppola & Robert De Niro stepped on stage as well as the Pulp Fiction team. legends

Rock is a poor version of Gervais and cannot do funny roasting. Insulting someone with a medical issue is low life. Well done Will Smith, should have hit him harder.

It wasn’t real.

Comedians do not have a God given right to get a laugh aimed at people suffering from disease. Jerkoff! Alopecia is dreadful! Especially when your a women. How can he think that was funny? If you can't write a joke that makes people laugh, get out of the industry!

It was scripted because their ratings stink. Everyone got played.

ABC - leave this crap “reporting” to the commercial channels. This is NOT news. One guy slaps another guy at a rich persons event. There are major local & world issues. The floods in Lismore where people have been asked to evacuate again in the last hour or so would be a start

who cares

This is violence, and if we are ever going to stop DV then men have to be taught this is not the way to react. He could have just as easily gotten his message across without the slap.

Why would people in Australia be interested in this little biffo, its much adu about nothing.

please make this torture stop no one cares

Couldn’t care less.

Idk man, this type of article seems below ABC, more like a Buzzfeed kind of thing.

Cool, but you don't need to do this.
