Biotech Tessara Therapeutics has kicked off a $10 million funding round, seeking to raise capital to progress development of its brain tissue technology RealBrain.

It is understood Tessara’s management and directors have started pitching investors for $10 million in a deal valuing the company at about $40 million, and second ever external funding round.

RealBrain makes microscopic 3D model of brain tissues, that can be combined with other matter to study diseases and potentially find better drug and/or treatments. He said Tessara was majority owned by staff, angel investors and its early backers, and it would tap into connections of its existing team, directors and advisory board to try to find new investors.
