Gadgets left on standby use up to 20% more electricity

Look - we all do it. We leave our chargers plugged in at the wall, our gaming console on, our laptops charging overnight.

Your appliances still use 20% of the electricity when they are on standby, which means they are switched off but still plugged in. Again, this doesn't sound a lot, but think of all the appliances you're leaving plugged in throughout the day and night. So a typical household could save a total of €3.88 per month or €46.56 per year by just plugging out their appliances each night.

While these don't sound like big costs, this is money that could be saved yearly or put towards a trip or a big purchase.
