You’ll also need an internet connection during setup.

Microsoft says it’s planning to update Windows 11 Pro so it will require an internet connection and a Microsoft Account during the initial setup phase. The changes will mirror the same requirements Microsoft originally, meaning you won’t be able to avoid Microsoft Accounts by creating a local user account during setup.

Microsoft has been increasingly pushing Windows users to use a Microsoft Account since Windows 10, and this new change to Windows 11 Pro won’t sit well with many hoping to avoid Microsoft’s data and telemetry gathering in Windows.“Similar to Windows 11 Home edition, Windows 11 Pro edition now requires internet connectivity during the initial device setup only,” says an updatedRelated

🤮😡

Doesn't say home edition, so I'm not entirely sure why this is an issue. You can still use the regular version without one if you truly don't want one...

Not a user hostile, stupid, or even gross move by Microsoft and definitely not a move by Microsoft to iPad its user count.

What about corporate login?

Garbage. Samsung is following suit pestering for a Samsung account on mobile devices.

windows 10 is new windows 7, and windows 11 is new windows 10

But, but, but...

its the time to move to linux im done with microsoft and windows

Yes, so they can collect more data on you. They will eventually make Windows free of cost because they are already getting profits from the data they collect.

Nope...went linux mint instead. Got tired of the forced upgrades that bricks laptops))) linuxmint

I wonder if this is also to get business customers to upgrade to enterprise

When will I be forced to leave Windows 10?

it's Linux time

this is why i moved to linux

Great. That way they can achieve Google level tracking in the near future🤣. One less reason to try Windows 11 for the second time

That's why we don't use windows 11

Microsoft just wants to make things even more annoying. I honestly don't even care for Windows 11.

Looks like Windows days are numbered. With steam deck and Linux growing all the time.

PopOS it is

Laughs in Linux...

windows 11 is a total SCAM.

Apex of the ego of a corporate brand, basically. Best stick with Windows 10 Pro.

*psst*

Won't be able to use that! Neither computer work beyond win10..And I don't feel like buying new or assembling a new puter. Gues Linux Mint will have to do..

Is it really a big deal?

What was Windows again?

Wait are you guys using current 11 pro without a Microsoft account?

In a way, it already does…🤔

This can be bypassed numerous ways unless Microsoft has finally added a barrier to prevent it. • ALT + F4 • Command Prompt, TskMgr, Kill networking service • connect to the internet, enter the email: dexample[.]com and type gibberish as the password. Auto skips registration.

What's the big deal about having to setup a Free Microsoft Account to access features/apps within Microsoft OS/Software?!? How many people use a Google Account to access features/apps on their smartphone running Google's Android OS without hesitation or complaints?!?

Just don't connect the PC to the internet. Easy

this will quite annoying for sysadmin and I wish next week steamos announcement is quite competitive against windows

Everything I know about Windows 11, I learned against my will. Bad enough they're forcing people to get a MS account (and provide a phone number) to keep playing Minecraft. Fuck them.

Sounds interesting

I misunderstand, my favorite project has turned into a mass media? or what's going on? I feel like I'm wasting my $xvg
