The country’s median download speed for mobile internet slowed to 17.95 megabits per second (Mbps) from 19.20 Mbps in December 2021.  The Philippines’ fixed broadband median download speed, on the other hand, decreased to 49.52 Mbps from 50.26 Mbps in the prior month.

The Philippines’ internet speeds showed slight decreases in January 2022 primarily due to the damage brought by Typhoon Odette on telecommunications infrastructure, data by global speed monitoring firm Speedtest by Ookla showed.

It has also restored 83% of wireless services and 90% of fixed services in the Palawan area; and 98% of wireless services and 99% of fixed services in Mindanao. It has fully restored services in Negros Occidental, while services are back up in 21 municipalities in Negros Oriental.
