Department of Information and Communications Technology chief Gregorio Honasan II on Saturday said his office is proposing a budget of P18 billion for the National Broadband Program to help improve th

e country’s internet connectivity.

According to the data, the country now registers an average of 25.07 Mbps and 16.95 Mbps for fixed broadband and mobile internet, respectively. He said that the lack of ICT infrastructure remained a problem, resulting in poor coverage across the country and leaving many with weak to no connection signal. The proposed a budget of about P18 billion is set to cover the Philippines by 2022 under the Program’s Phase 2.

You don't need people's money to improve Internet speed! You need more competition from providers. That means you have to deregulate and allow more companies to open up and compete. Govt hands off.

Akala ko 'not bad'?

Mukha sinto sinto itong senador na to

Ano ba and dict? Globe,Smart or PLDT? Kayo ba magtatayo ng cell sites? Kayo ba maglalatag ng fibr? Kayo ba magpapalakas ng connectivity ng bansa? Bakit need nyo ang ganung budget? We all know you’ll use it for tapping and tracking “enemies of the state” kunyari pa kayo.

Are you sure you know how to and where to spend that money improving our internet connectivity when you can't even identify the difference of the speed of 3 to 7 Mbps from 55 Mbps?!! 🙄

Style niyo bulok. Cory all over again.

What is the P18B for?

18B for what? What has DICT done to deserve that amount?

This makes me laugh, most internet handlers are the ones upgrading their internet speed, and DICT ? unless they will be the one to create a grid for all and be redistributed by the private internet providers, which I think will be turned away by those who have cables already

Sarap magnakaw talaga, open season! Walang kulong Mapo promote oa

Yes for 18B but not Honasan as DICT head.

But why? Didn’t he just said, 3-7 MBps is OK na! Not Bad diba?!?!? Boost-Set!!!

Tongue eener! 🙄

Fiber everywhere!

Asking 18 billion so Honasan can improve the internet speed from 4mbps to 8mbps.
