U.S. gave no assurances to Taiwan's TSMC for license to sell to Huawei: official

TSMC, the world’s biggest contract chipmaker, announced its plans on Friday just hours before the Trump administration outlined a proposal to amend tech export rules that could restrict TSMC’s sales to Huawei, which is blacklisted by the United States because it is considered a national security threat.

“There’s no assurance whatsoever on that,” Keith Krach, the U.S. undersecretary for economic growth, energy and the environment, told reporters in a call, when asked if TSMC was assured about a license. Earlier, TSMC said it was working with outside counsel to interpret the rules in good time and maintain long-term collaborations with equipment partners around the world.

I believe it will be a matter of time as the Chinese tech giant will get self reliable on Homemade technology. They are working and investing heavily on semiconductor industry and as well as on software side to replace Google. The US companies might loose the big market of China.

China is already surviving it. They are already producing kirin chips which is powering their flagship mobiles. I think it's just going to slow it down but will not be able to stop them. As the huawei has already shifted from TSMC to SMIC.

Last time USA locked nuclear technology and China made the nuke bomb by itself.
