President of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria Leah Calnan says the Victorian government’s ban on property inspections “has certainly come to us as a bit of a surprise”.

The new measure has upped Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s ban on open inspections which allowed agents to continue to book private inspections with prospective buyers and tenants. Ms Calnan told Sky News technology is available to assist agents with virtual tours “but there will still be the need for people to physically inspect the property”.

She said “agents are devastated, it came basically unannounced, there has been very little government announcement around it so unless you are a member of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria you would not know that these new bans have been implemented”. “That is the most frustrating part,” she said.

Why can't people inspect properties and just adhere to social distancing like at the supermarket. I would have thought shelter is just as important as food.

Not really a surprise. The surprise si you didn't see it coming

Really, lol what rock do they live under. Also it's occupied properties, not a blanket ban on inspections. But I'm not a media professional working at Sky news so please feel free to correct me.
