A man from California has been arrested for trying to sexually exploit and extort an eight-year-old child in Hants County.
RCMP spokesman Const. Mitch Thompson described the child as brave for calling police in May of last year to say that someone was threatening to hurt them and their family unless they sent intimate images through a social media platform.Police say the man on the other end of the online conversation had sent the child intimate images as part of the crime.
The investigation pointed police to a IP address in California. RCMP contacted the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations agency, who identified a suspect and issued an arrest warrant. The suspect, a 38-year-old man in the Sacramento area, was arrested last month and admitted to victimizing more than 20 children.It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
